Lara Lunardi led an engaging lecture on Esports Journalism at the University of Northampton in England, sharing her expertise as an esports journalist, interviewer, and content creator. With a career spanning Dot Esports, Inven, and SK Gaming, and experience hosting major events, Lara provided valuable insights into the evolving esports media landscape. Her interactive approach encouraged students to think critically about journalism’s role in gaming, the challenges of fast-paced reporting, and the creative opportunities it presents.

The lecture, titled "Esports Journalism and Its Endless Side Quests," explored the dynamic world of esports reporting, covering essential aspects such as news, analysis, commentary, and interviewing. It emphasized that esports journalism is more than just covering matches—it's about storytelling, profiling players, and understanding the industry's impact. Ethical considerations, handling sensitive data, and the responsibility of breaking news were key discussion points. The session also highlighted the importance of speed in reporting, the ethical dilemmas of leaks, and how journalists can creatively repurpose interviews into engaging content.

A significant part of the discussion focused on breaking into the industry, encouraging students to establish a professional presence, and start creating content. The lecture also distinguished between different types of interviews (press room, broadcast, and feature pieces) and the challenges of covering esports in a fast-paced digital environment. With a focus on engaging both endemic and non-endemic audiences, the lecture underscored the growing influence of esports journalism and its ability to shape narratives and connect communities.
